Naomy’s success is an inspiration to our pupils. Naomy comes from the same background as all of them. Having grown up and attended school in Linda, she completed her training at Evelyn Hone College in Lusaka. She now works for FCTrelief.

The Next Success Story
We reported on Misheck's success story. Here is Naomy's.
Naomy grew up in Linda and comes from a modest background. For her, too, education is the key to change. Her brother had already trained as a teacher and worked for FCTrelief. After graduating from Evelyn Hone College in Lusaka in 2024, Naomy joined us at just the right time. But it wasn’t all plain sailing before that. Naomy had to overcome a number of hurdles.

Naomy's Road to Success
At the age of thirteen, she completed Year 7 at Linda Open Community School, but then her family fell into financial hardships. Naomy did not attend school for two years. Then her father died, a painful blow that had further financial consequences.
FCTrelief then enabled Naomy to return to school from 2016 onwards. She transferred to Mount Makulu Secondary School and successfully completed Grade 12 in 2020. She studied ‘Public Administration’ at Evelyn Hone College for three years. Naomy financed most of her education herself and was supported in this by her brothers Blackson and Lazarous.

Naomy at FCTrelief
Naomy has been working for FCTrelief since March. She has proved her worth. She has settled in well with the team and has taken on responsibility from day one. She has successfully completed her probationary period and is keen to help bring FCTrelief’s vision to life. Heiner and Chris Merk are delighted to have Naomy on the team, as they too have played a significant role in Naomy’s life and career. The staff have given her a warm welcome.

Naomy works in administration at FCTrelief. She works directly with Gordon and Elvira. She also supports Danny with various tasks and is responsible for helping the kitchen staff with purchasing and organising the kitchen. Following the changes at the start of the year, the whole team has gelled very well and everything is running smoothly.

Naomy's Goal
Naomy has a goal. Her work at FCTrelief is more than just a ‘job’.
My motivation is to give something back. I don’t want children to drop out of school because they don’t have uniforms, are malnourished or for any other reason. I want to break the cycle of poverty.
Naomy is proof that, despite difficult circumstances and challenging setbacks, it is possible to complete school and undertake vocational training. However, it takes determination and commitment.
Naomy’s success story inspires the current pupils. Every day, they see what Naomy is making of her life. Naomy takes an active part in the youth meetings and encourages the pupils to pursue a vision in life.
